The aim of this study is to analyze 421 recorded storms in West Azerbaijan province. The information of rainfall events was used and the set of Huff curves was plotted. In each case, Huff curves were plotted and shown by two forms, which are empirical and theoretical. Huff curve modeled by mathematical form and area under the curve in each of the four quartiles evaluated by integration. Rainfall types for each site and season were determined using the quartile method. Results showed that in spring, the rainfall pattern of the Urmia, Khoy, and Sardasht was the fourth quartile type, but Oshnavieh and Mahabad were the third type. In autumn, the rainfall pattern for all the stations was the third quartile. In winter, unless Khoy whose rainfall pattern was third type, all other sites had the fourth quartile type. In winter, 20% of the sites had the third quartile pattern, and the other 80% had the fourth quartile type. The storm pattern at all the stations was the third quartile type. In spring, the rainfall type for 40% of the stations was the third quartile and the other 60% had the fourth. It can be concluded that rainfall types of West Azarbaijan province were the third or the fourth quartile. The median R2 values were never less than 0.885 (in Khoy, spring). The maximum value of R2 varied between stations and seasons, ranging from 0.979 (in Khoy, winter) to 0.998 (in Oshnavieh and winter).
